Did you know that God has a plan for your life? Did you know that it was decided before you existed? Well, Satan has a plan for your life as well. Our own plans fall into one of those two categories. Whatever plans and choices we make, they either fall into line with God’s plans or Satan’s plans. All of our choices in this life have consequences. Those consequences are either good or bad.
Jer 29:11 says, “I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans, not to harm you, but to give you a future and a hope.”
This verse refers to two kinds of plans. They are plans to give you a future and a hope, and plans to harm you. God’s plans are to give you a future and a hope and He already knows those plans. They are good. Satan has plans to harm you and those plans are bad.
So, what do our choices have to do with those two plans? Every choice that we make to be obedient to God will bring good things to us. They will always bring freedom to our hearts. God’s plans bring us into eternally good places. That does not mean there will never be challenges or difficulties. It means that we can walk through those things with peace and clear thinking. But, God always gives freedom of choice. That is one way that he honors and loves us. He will allow us to choose whatever path that we want to take, even if it means that we reject Him in the process.
Now, if we decide to make choices that are not in line with God’s plans, then we are making choices against His plans. Any choice against God’s plan is a choice for Satan’s plan. The consequences for those choices are misery, bondage and emotional pain. It also brings a type of death to us. That death is separation from God. Satan loves that because he hates God and wants to attack God at every chance that he can. One way to attack someone is to attack those that person loves. God loves us all. He sent His son to the cross so that we would not have to be eternally separated from Him. His son was a willing and perfect sacrifice made for our redemption.
So, if we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are redeemed (bought back) so that we can be free from slavery to Satan and sin. But as we live our lives, Satan wants to deceive us into turning away from Gods perfect plan for us. When we believe Satan’s lies, we fall into the trap of Satanic plans. Those plans are designed to put us back into bondage and keep us from being able to live the way God would want.
How do you know if a plan is from Satan? An easy test is to check your emotion meter. That will tell you if you are believing Satan’s lies. God’s truth brings peace and freedom. The truth will set you free from the emotional bondage and reactiveness caused by Satan’s lies planted in your hearts.
After we have accepted Christ as savior, our spirits which were dead in sin, come to life in Christ. But our hearts and minds still have beliefs that were planted by the devil. That is why we are challenged to renew our minds in Romans 12:2. ” Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Our challenge to renew the mind is not something we can do by sheer will power. That is a works based life. God wants us to live a faith based life. If we come to him with each and every thought that does not bring peace, He is faithful to bring us into a place of truth that will dispel the lies that tie us up in knots. That is true mind renewal. The test is, lasting peace in the same situation; no more reacting and we will not have to try or to stuff anything down.
May God’s perfect peace rest in you all!
